CLIENT Fort William Henry Resort & Conference Center

Master Plan

Fort William Henry Resort includes a hotel and conference center and the re-created Fort William Henry attraction. The site is on a prominant bluff overlooking Lake George with magnificant views north over the lake.

Studio A developed a Master Plan for upgrades to the resort side including improved streetscape visibility and ease of entry from NY Route 9N, reconfigured parking and portecochere entry to the hotel, lakeside patios and promenades, relocated service entry and service court, landscaping, lighting, and signage. Construction to date included the renovation of the banquet facility with outdoor patios and dining areas, pedestrian walkways/connectivity improvements, landscaping, and stormwater management practices.

Carriage House

A multi-purpose outdoor gathering space was designed to complement the interior renovations of the Carriage House at Fort William Resort in Upstate New York. The landscape design emphasizes the use of indigenous materials and reflects the surrounding natural setting, while thoughtfully accommodating outdoor gathering, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, and event support services for weddings and
special occasions.

The design features a stone patio with integrated seat walls and exterior lighting that creates a welcoming and functional setting for outdoor events. Existing mature trees were preserved and seamlessly incorporated into the patio layout, with strategic plantings used to soften and define seating areas while immersing users beneath a tall, shaded canopy. The paver patio transitions fluidly to an elevated deck, lifting guests above the hillside and orienting them toward expansive lake views. Simple, native-inspired plantings frame the building and seat walls, introducing subtle color and texture that complement the white Carriage House and surrounding great lawn.
